Web Design Trends Taking Off in 2018

Last week we looked at all the graphic design trends to look out for in 2018, so we thought we’d follow that up with all those trends that are specific to the web design world.

In this episode, listen as the gang talks about everything we have been seeing pick up tremendous steam, and will likely see full saturation in the new year. And Nick (our resident “print guy”) is showing some serious promise as a future web designer!

Are few possible answers for some of the questions brought up during this podcast. Why hasn’t animation moved to mobile? Battery life and performance. Animations can be taxing on the phone battery and of course the phone isn’t as powerful as a desktop/laptop… most of the time.

Breaking grid design? This is happened because of wide spread support across browsers of newer styling options specifically the css properties flex-box and css-grid which makes it much easier to arrange and align elements than in the past.

I just want to follow up on portfolios. I just redesigned my portfolio and wanted to do something a little different, so I took the questions: What is Graphic Design? Layout, pagination, type, type design, printing, binding. So what answers all that in one show, it’s called a magazine. So I decide to create a magazine for my portfolio and I named it “Portfolio Magazine”. I designed a 24page magazine about myself (and why not) and my artwork, plus my resume on the last pages. I am also designing 3 other editions for SPECIAL EDITIONS for certain types of work. This has been working for me and being able to hand them out and carry them around when I go out. I got them printed through Blurb and they are very affordable.
